Burke County Sheriff

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Waynesboro Police Department for the past week:

onday, Sept. 20

· Michael Jones, 44, of 418 West 8th St., Waynesboro, was arrested for disorderly conduct. Bond was set at $625.
· James Peadro Simpson, 32, of 516 8th St., Waynesboro, was arrested for simple battery under the Family Violence Act.

Tuesday, Sept. 21

· Reginald Dishmond, 20, of 528 East 8th St., Waynesboro, was charged with possession of marijuana (less than one ounce).

Wednesday, Sept. 22

· Roderick Clinton Roberson, 26, of 1342 Idlewood Road, Waynesboro, was arrested for financial identity fraud. A $5,900 property bond was posted.
· Johnathon Terell Hughes, 18, of 302 Hopkins Drive, Waynesboro, was arrested for battery under the Family Violence Act.

Thursday, Sept. 23

· A 15-year-old juvenile was charged with shoplifting.

Sunday, Sept. 26

· John Larry Herndon, 29, of 65 Magnolia Acres, Waynesboro, was arrested for willfully obstructing or hindering a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and battery.
· James Henry Mobley Jr., 24, of 1104 Windy Hills Circle, Waynesboro, was arrested for disorderly conduct.
· Johnny Owens, 65, of 716 Cates Ave., Waynesboro, was arrested for driving on a suspended or revoked license (second offense) and driving away without paying for gasoline. A $2,451 bond was posted.


The following arrests were reported by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office for the past week:

Sunday, Sept. 19

· Alfonzo Johnson, 36, of 405 Railroad Ave., Blythe, was arrested for criminal trespass.

Monday, Sept. 20

· Wade Russell Oliver Jr., 20, of 431 Telfair Pond Road, Waynesboro, was arrested for burglary.

Tuesday, Sept. 21

· Lawrence Anthony Washington, 43, of 6197 River Road, Waynesboro, was arrested (Georgia State Patrol cases) for DUI, driving on a suspended license, no proof of insurance, driving too fast for conditions and altered license plate.
· Stephen Michael Smith Jr., 20, of 375 Horseshoe Circle, Waynesboro, was arrested for battery under the Family Violence Act. A $1,300 property bond was posted.

Wednesday, Sept. 22

· Calvin Jason Waldrop, 35, of 522 Jones Ave., Waynesboro, was arrested on a grand jury warrant for two counts of vehicular homicide in the first degree and one count of reckless driving. A $28,850 property bond was posted.

Thursday, Sept. 23

· Johnathon Terell Hughes, 18, of 302 Hopkins Drive, Waynesboro, was arrested for affray. A $1,300 property bond was posted.
· Mickey Antonio Hughes, 18, of 124-27 Whispering Oaks Road, Waynesboro, was arrested for affray. A $1,300 property bond was posted.

Friday, Sept. 24

· Johnny Bernard Godbee, 35, of 2137 Hwy. 80 East, Waynesboro, was arrested by the Georgia State Patrol for driving on a suspended license, possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), speeding (71 mph in a 55 mph zone) and giving a false name, address or date of birth to a law enforcement officer. A $4,275 property bond was posted.

Saturday, Sept. 25

· Joseph Darrell Harper, 39, of 915 Washington Road, Sardis, was arrested by the Georgia State Patrol for DUI and violation of the Georgia Seatbelt Law. A $1,675 property bond was posted.

Sunday, Sept. 26


· Dusty Richard Hatcher, 22, of 1098 Creek Road, Girard, was arrested for DUI. A $1,300 property bond was posted.

· Johnathon Terell Hughes, 18, of 302 Hopkins Drive, Waynesboro, was arrested for battery under the Family Violence Act.

Thursday, Sept. 23


· A 15-year-old juvenile was charged with shoplifting.

Sunday, Sept. 26
